Get to know this month’s Envase Team Member Spotlight: Jessica Whitehouse, Senior Director of Operations for the GTG Technology Group. Don’t forget to check out last months team member spotlight and learn more about the interesting people who make up the Envase team!
1. How long have you worked at Envase, and what’s your role?
Jessica: I am the Senior Director of Operations for GTG Technology Group and have been a part of the GTG family since 2014. I have also been working as the Product Manager for GTG at Envase. My role at GTG touches various aspects of the business such as Sales, Support, and Development. GTG has been a part of my career from the start, as a dispatcher and sales executive within the logistics industry, I started my journey with the platform as an end user.
2. What do you like most about your work?
Jessica: Every day I wake up and I know that I am going to be challenged and rarely in the same way. The logistics industry is forever changing, and you must stay up to speed with the complexities and needs of the community. Our clients and prospects continue to challenge us with new ideas and features for the system and I am always learning something new. What we do is challenging yet rewarding, and I think we all should remember that on tough days. I also feel very fortunate to work with an entire staff, coders included, that have years of knowledge base in the logistics industry. It is truly a unique thing.
3. Name one Envase member you would take on a road trip, and why?
Jessica: Now that is a tough one! Thinking back, I have had some great trips with Mark Parrott, but those usually result with me missing a big Astros game and Sohrob Parvin as long as he doesn’t play King Gizzard. I have not had the opportunity to meet all Envase employees, but based on calls so far, I know there would never be a dull moment with EG!
4. What’s the weirdest food you have ever tried?
Jessica: I am going to spin this question a little, and it’s not necessarily the weirdest food, but the weirdest combination of foods. Our street had a Chili Cook off last year and my neighbor, Ms. Vicki served her homemade chili over collard greens and mac n cheese. If you ever come to Texas, I will be sure to have her make you some- it is to die for! Oh, and she did start her own cooking show in the pandemic for those really interested!
5. If you could go anywhere now, where would it be and why?
Jessica: ANYWHERE…. I would go ANYWHERE. Can you tell I am missing travel? All joking aside, I have always wanted to go to Santorini. The combination of white buildings and the blue ocean have always been so beautiful to me.
6. If you could have one superpower what would it be?
Jessica: The ability to control time. Life is so precious, and we often do not stop to smell the roses. Even within the four walls of our homes, I am sure there are many moments and memories we all wish we could figure out a way to enjoy them even longer, but as they say “Time Flies When You Are Having Fun.”
7. Something new you would like to learn this year.
Jessica: It is not something necessarily new, but I would like to start playing golf again. That is one sport that is so frustrating to me. I played sports my whole life and they always came naturally. Golf is a sport you have to practice and master. The moment you think you are going to quit, you hit another good shot, and it keeps you coming back for more. Now I am frustrated just thinking about it!
8. One thing about you that no one knows in the organization?
Jessica: I hate favorites. I do not have favorites. If you ask me my favorite color, I genuinely do not know the answer. I prefer to stay neutral when it comes to all things favorite.
9. Anything else you wish to add?
Jessica: I can’t end my spotlight without sharing a little about my family, as they are who pushes me every day personally and professionally. I am married to my amazing husband, Will and we have four beautiful daughters ranging from ages 10 down to 22 months. My 3 oldest are my step-daughter’s and they call me S’mommy. My youngest is Reagan and we refer to her as our “ride or die” kid. We have a slogan in our home, and I often use in the work environment as well, “Teamwork makes the Dream Work.” With Teamwork and unity, we can accomplish anything. I am truly honored and excited to be a part of the Envase Team and I am looking forward to all the great things we will do together.
